Currently, various regions are exploring ways to cultivate emerging industries. Jiangsu, a major manufacturing province, is leveraging government investment funds to guide social capital through provincial and municipal coordination, as well as government-enterprise collaboration. This aims to support and promote the growth of strategic emerging industries that have foresight and leading potential. Recently, the Jiangsu Provincial Strategic Emerging Industry Fund, with a scale of 50 billion yuan, was officially launched. By cooperating deeply with industrial capital, social capital, and financial institutions, it aims to build an efficient platform for industry-finance interaction.

Digital Transformation Becomes a "Mandatory Course" for Traditional Industries

At XCMG, digital transformation enables the company to predict when equipment parts might "fall ill." "By deeply mining historical data, we can discover early signs before some equipment malfunctions," said Mei Jie. If we can identify under what circumstances equipment anomalies occur, or understand the maintenance and replacement cycles in advance, the company can further reduce maintenance costs. Meanwhile, it can also minimize losses caused by equipment anomalies or pre-emptively allocate resources to the site of an incident.

In actual production, thanks to the effective monitoring by digital systems, the proportion of production line delays caused by equipment failures at XCMG is continuously decreasing. Additionally, due to the predictable usage of parts, warehousing and logistics costs are significantly reduced.

Creating Synergy and Starting Anew

In December 2017, President Xi Jinping visited Xuzhou, Jiangsu. At XCMG, he emphasized, "The equipment manufacturing industry is the backbone of the manufacturing industry. We must increase investment, strengthen research and development, accelerate development, strive to occupy the world's commanding heights, and gain technological discourse power, making China a major country in modern equipment manufacturing."

Through the high-tech visualized screen, data flows rapidly on the IIoT platform. On a digital production line at XCMG, giant robotic arms slowly move components, with digital control, automatic inspection, and intelligent assembly, producing a wheel crane chassis every 25 minutes on average. 

XCMG is comprehensively promoting industrial transformation and upgrading. In the first half of this year, the company achieved "double over-half" in overall revenue and net profit, with "double improvement" in product gross margin and net sales margin. Yang Dongsheng, a provincial NPC representative and XCMG Party Secretary, suggests introducing policies for renewing engineering machinery products and supporting the independent research and development of parts remanufacturing technologies to sustain the leading advantage in the new energy sector.

Every 8 seconds, an electric cell is completed, and more than 35 power battery packs are produced daily! On July 8, at Xuzhou XCMG New Energy Power Technology Co., Ltd.’s digital production line, orange robotic arms kept moving, the smart screen displayed constant production data updates, and battery packs wrapped in blue insulation film were being automatically packaged and completed.

Focusing on independent research and development in power batteries, establishing a complete industrial chain for the R&D, manufacturing, and application of power batteries for engineering machinery and commercial vehicles, will inject vigorous new power into the transformation and development of Xuzhou's "No.1 Industry" and further consolidate its status as the "Capital of Construction Machinery."
