Study completed by Chinese contractor for 41km Banja Luka-Prijedor project

Construction of the long-awaited Banja Luka-Prijedor motorway in Bosnia and Herzegovina is a step closer, following the completion of a draft study for the €297 million project.

Chinese construction company SDHS CSI BH commissioned the study of the 41km-long motorway project, which will include four lanes of highway, the construction of nine bridges, seven viaducts, 23 overpasses and ten underpasses.

SDHS CSI BH signed the contract to undertake the project late in 2018, including a 33-year concession and expectations to complete the construction work within five years of breaking ground.

At the time, Prijedor Mayor Milenko Djakovic said of the project, “We are aware that the construction of infrastructure will enable our further economic development, and this section, as well as upcoming ones, will help the development of the entire region, and with that also the development of Bosnia and Herzegovina.”

The environmental impact of the project was included in the recently-published draft study, which concluded that it will meet ecological and environmental standards.
