XCMG Embarks on Desert Snowfield Creation for the 2029 Asian Winter Games
The Paris Olympics have just concluded, and XCMG is now diving into the construction of a ski resort for the 2029 Asian Winter Games, set to take place in Trojena, within Saudi Arabia's NEOM city. Building a ski resort in a desert where surface temperatures reach 50°C is undoubtedly a significant challenge. This project will become the first large-scale outdoor ski paradise in the Gulf region, making Saudi Arabia the first West Asian country to host the Asian Winter Games.
Trojena is located in mountainous terrain, with elevations ranging from 1,500 to 2,600 meters, where winter temperatures can drop below freezing. This creates the possibility of hosting the Winter Games in the heart of the desert. However, the unique topography and elevation also present challenges for event preparation and execution. Even under extreme conditions, XCMG’s road equipment demonstrates stability and environmental adaptability, operating efficiently in harsh conditions like 50-degree heat and high wind and sand exposure.
With the support of XCMG's road machinery, the rugged terrain will be transformed into a vast and smooth "snowfield." Every inch of the surface will be rock-solid, turning the desert into a winter sports arena!
XCMG's presence isn't limited to the Saudi Asian Winter Games; it has also contributed to the construction of venues for major sports events such as the Rio Olympics, Beijing Winter Olympics, Hangzhou Asian Games, and Chengdu Universiade, witnessing the birth of miracles time and again. Higher, faster, stronger! Let’s anticipate the creation of this desert venue and feel the passion and dreams within the ice and snow!
