XCMG Assists in Restoring Power in Disaster-Stricken Areas
Recently, a sudden and powerful typhoon, "Magi," swept through, leaving behind not only devastation but also posing a severe test to emergency response and post-disaster recovery capabilities. In this race against time, XCMG stood on the front lines.
Due to the impact of the super typhoon "Magi," many areas in Zhanjiang, Guangdong, experienced road blockages, power outages, and network interruptions. In response, local firefighting and emergency systems quickly organized rescue efforts. XCMG’s integrated pole-erecting machine and the GKZ17 aerial work vehicle worked alongside power departments to restore electricity.
Though the typhoon has passed, the post-disaster repairs are in full swing. At the scene, strong winds had caused trees to fall onto power lines and break them, leading to widespread power outages. Workers climbed the XCMG GKZ17 aerial work vehicle to inspect damaged power lines, working tirelessly to restore the power “lifeline.”
At a repair site of the Guangdong branch of the Southern Power Grid, XCMG’s integrated pole-erecting machine was used for the first time in a typhoon emergency rescue operation. What typically required two excavators, more than ten workers, and at least two hours for pole installation was shortened to just 20 minutes.
“This pole-erecting ‘robot’ is multifunctional, equipped with rapid wheel drive and hole-drilling capabilities. It uses laser vertical detection during pole operations, making the process not only efficient but also much safer,” said a representative from Guangdong Power Grid, who highly praised the product’s efficiency and safety.
After two days of hard work, 66 out of 93 permanently damaged power lines were restored, achieving a restoration rate of 74.82%. Residents' daily travel, electricity, and network services have gradually returned to normal.
