The Rise of “ XCMG Gold” in the Loess Plateau
The Malian River Grand Bridge is a key control project on the G309 West-Heguo Highway, with a total length of 2,208 meters and a main bridge length of 1,400 meters. It is not only the largest span and the most interconnected low tower cable-stayed bridge in the domestic Loess region, but also the highest multiple low tower PC beam cable-stayed bridge currently in China and abroad.
The local area is often plagued by strong winds and heavy fog, and bridge construction requires traversing the geologically complex Loess gully zone, posing significant challenges. "The terrain here is undulating and the gullies are crisscrossed. When selecting tower cranes, safety and stability are our top considerations, and the requirements for crane operators are also relatively high," explained Zhang Zheng, the manager of the West-Heguo Highway project construction general contracting department.

In harsh weather conditions and complex working conditions, combined with the large scale of the Malian River Grand Bridge construction, which involves numerous box beam reinforcements and protective panels, the challenges faced by the XCMG XGT7026-12S1 tower crane ranged from erecting the tower to carrying out construction tasks. Furthermore, the installation of 2.5m diameter pile piers and the lifting of 240-meter high steel reinforcements presented considerable challenges.
In addition to the assistance of the tower cranes, the Malian River Grand Bridge project also utilized six XCMG SC200/200FS1 construction elevators, which operated without any downtime or malfunctions. These elevators have superior overall performance, utilizing new high-reliability transmission mechanisms and high-efficiency gear reduction motors to achieve smooth operation, ensuring the safe transportation of steel reinforcements, cement, and other construction materials, and improving construction efficiency.
XCMG will continue to innovate and continuously upgrade its products based on customer needs, improving the operational efficiency of its products, creating more value for customers, and providing a more perfect construction experience for bridge engineering projects.
