Feature: XCMG Service Team in Nigeria
Nigeria is the largest oil producer and
exporter in Africa. The Dangote oil refining and petrochemical project in
Lagos, Nigeria, is the largest oil refining project in the world.
Here, nearly 100 XCMG excavators are working
together to push forward the project construction. At the same time, XCMG
workers are guarding the construction site with excellent technology and
high-quality service. They have a common name - XCMG overseas service
craftsman.
Leaving families and crossing the sea,
XCMG's overseas service team came to Africa. They had to face the intense heat
in the dry season and the hot tides in the rainy season, the rampant mosquitoes
and frequent diseases in Africa. They had many stories to share.
One day, the project party was going to
disassemble a XE215C excavator that had worked for more than 12000 hours to
recycle the parts. XCMG worker Jiangping YIN learned that the equipment was
still fixable and didn’t have to be broke into parts. After inspection, he found the connection
between the slewing motor and the slewing platform was broken and separated. He
volunteered to repair it. YIN borrowed tools such as grinding machines and
welding guns from the repair shop, patiently polished the broken and stuck
bolts, and then selected high-strength welding rods to connect the rotary motor
and the turntable bit by bit. After several days, the XE215C raised its arms
again and went back to construction site.
XCMG worker Wei GAO suffers from severe
shingles when he arrived, the burning pain is unbearable. In the evening, GAO
was lying on the bed when he was told a XE235C excavator was driven into a swamp
and could not get out. The experienced old divers were all off duty, the
project management personnel tried hard, but no progress had been made. There was
a rainstorm in the sky. If the excavator was not ‘rescued’ in time, serious
losses would be cost. GAO rushed to the scene with his weak body under the
storm. He first appeased the embarrassed excavator driver, then coordinated to
tow the vehicle. After an hour of hard work in the swamp, the excavator was
finally rescued.
The technic trainer Tao DING always
attached great importance to the improvement of the skill level of the service
team in Dangote project. He believed that theory should be combined with
practice, and it was better to put service personnel in the work scene, so as
to better improve their skills. At noon, a XE215C excavator gave an alarm of
high hydraulic oil temperature, DING led the service team to the scene quickly.
They checked the scalding oil tank, finding that the filter and radiator were
not blocked. Under DING’s guidance, local colleagues soon realized that the
distribution of hydraulic oil to the radiator and hydraulic oil tank was the
problem. DING disassembled the oil return check valve, adjusted the pressure,
completed the installation and commissioning, and the fault was removed. The
project party were observing and learning beside DING.
