Users can now directly compare two separate scenarios for using construction equipment with the new and improved ERA Equipment CO2 Calculator released by the European Rental Association (ERA).

This free online tool, initially launched in January 2021, aims to assist equipment stakeholders in making more sustainable choices when using construction equipment. It estimates the carbon footprint of all types of equipment, including mini excavators, wheel loaders, generators, boom lifts, and access platforms, throughout their entire lifecycle. By providing an estimate of the carbon footprint per hour of use, the Calculator enables construction equipment users to compare different use scenarios, assess which part of the lifecycle contributes most to the carbon footprint, and evaluate the effects of alternative fuel choices.

Moreover, the Calculator can evaluate the climate impact of an individual piece of equipment or an entire fleet, as well as the total carbon footprint of all machines at a construction site. Overall, the ERA Equipment CO2 Calculator is a valuable tool for making informed decisions about equipment choices in order to reduce carbon footprint in the construction industry.
