XCMG Crawler Crane Make a Name in Africa Wind Farm
In ‘roof of Africa’
— Ethiopia, the construction of wind farm with the
highest single machine capacity is coming to the end.
As the wind farm with the largest single
unit capacity in Ethiopia, the Aisa wind power project boasts a total designed
capacity of 120 MW. At present, it has a power generation capacity of 40 MW,
and it will provide sufficient power supply for the economic construction of
‘Addis Ababa Djibouti economic corridor’ after completion.
During the hoisting of the unit, the
temperature reaches 40 ℃. The sweeping wind carries the yellow sand, and the locusts
are rampant. Scarce surface vegetation, strong sand mobility, poor foundation
conditions…the hideous natural conditions add difficulties to the construction.
XCMG XGC500-I adopts a large chassis
design, which makes the whole machine more stable. It has a small average
grounding pressure, therefore can be easily handled in all terrains including swamps,
mountains, deserts and hills.
On site, after completing the hoisting of
the tower, engine room and generator, XCMG XGC500-I slowly hoisted the
assembled huge wind turbine, turned it over 90 degrees in the air, and then
continued to lift it up to 80 meters high, finally realizing the precise
docking with the engine room.
‘Awesome! This is China technology!’ Seeing
the scene of the successful hoisting of the generator, the on-site personnel
were very excited.
Ethiopia regards new energy as an important
strategy for national power development. It will become the largest wind power
base in Africa, bringing new vitality to more deserts. Up to now, XCMG crawler
crane has participated in several wind power constructions, boosting the acceleration of global green
energy development.
