Prime Minister Hasina of Bangladesh Cut the Ribbon for the Padma Bridge
On June 25, the
dream project for the people of Bangladesh, the Padma Bridge, has officially
come into service. As an essential railway connecting China and Southeast Asia,
the 6150-meter Padma Bridge is built under the most special geological features
and the most difficult foundation construction conditions in the world.
This is a bridge
of innovation, science and technology, and a bridge of friendship between China
and Bangladesh.
The largest and
most challenging infrastructure project in Bangladesh's history completely ends
the centuries old history of Bangladeshi people crossing the river by ferry.
In the 8-year effort,
over 100 XCMG machines including cranes, rollers, crawler cranes, concrete
equipment, etc. have contributed to the construction and witnessed the largest
scale and the most challenging infrastructure project in the history of
Bangladesh. XCMG cooperated with China Railway Bridge Bureau Group, the
contractor of the project, and was highly praised. It is estimated that the
bridge will promote the GDP growth of Bangladesh by about 1.5% and benefit more
than half of the population of Bangladesh.
The riverbed at
the bridge site is extremely soft with silt and silty sand. Once it rains, it
becomes a "mud pond", causing great difficulties to the construction.
Several XCMG 55t truck cranes, XGC150 crawler cranes and XGC180 crawler cranes
are firmly ‘rooted’ in the rough and muddy water surface. They are like ‘special
forces’ with vigorous and resolute actions.
On the
construction site, there were 12 concrete mineral storage tanks, each of which
was more than 20 meters in height and 10 tons in weight. XCMG's service
engineers fastened tens of thousands of bolts one by one. These 9 sets of XCMG
HZS180 became the plants of largest volume and hourly concrete production
capacity in the whole project.
In 2021, during
the epidemic, XCMG RP953 paver, XD123 double steel wheel roller and XP163 tire
roller all went out for the final completion work. It is worth mentioning that
the pavers rollers in the bridge paving project are all from XCMG.
In addition, there
are excavators, graders, aerial work platforms from XCMG. XCMG also sent nearly
20 service personnel around the clock to escort the smooth progress of the
project. Bangladesh national television has reported XCMG's excellent
performance in the project for many times.
